Membership
Membership of the Society costs £7 per annum and includes admission to all meetings and to the summer walks. Copies of publications held in the library can also be borrowed free of charge by members. Admission of non-members to individual meetings is permitted at a charge of £2. Membership for two people at the same address is £12 per annum.
Members receive free of charge the Society’s Journal, published three times per annum in April, August and December. Members also have free access to the Society’s archives, which include the transcribed census records for all four parishes from 1841 to 1901. We now also have available transcriptions and maps from the 1836 ‘Corn Rent’ books.
The Society is a member of the Cumbria Local History Federation. Details of the federation, its programme and those of member groups can be found on the web site http://www.cumbrialocalhistory.org.uk
